Dairy cattle and milk. The film describes the different breeds of milk cows, the different types of food grown for feed. Hand milking is described in detail, followed by a proper milk handling procedures; that is, collecting, delivering to factory, pasteurization processes, etc. A final note is offered regarding the wholesomeness of milk and its role in fostering good health. Le lait est la pierre angulaire d'une bonne santé, l'aliment complet qui permet à chacun de résister à la maladie. Il importe donc qu'il parvienne au consommateur avec 100% de sa valeur nutritive. Pour cela, les nombreuses manipulations par lesquelles doit passer le lait, depuis la traite jusqu'à sa livraison au public, doivent être entourées de toutes les précautions possibles. Nous voyons les différentes opérations en cours dans une laiterie bien moderne pour assurer au client un lait pur et parfaitement sain. Entretien du troupeau laitier, usage d'ustensiles propres et stérilisés, contrôle de la production laitière, emploi de la trayeuse mécanique, filtrage et refroidissement du lait, expédition en bidons stérilisés et scellés dans des camions réfrigérés, inspection du lait à la laiterie, pasteurisation, embouteillage, épreuves de laboratoires, etc. (Library and Archives Canada)
